We were a little thin on art for tomorrow's paper so I was sent out on a standalone hunt. I'm never quite sure what I'll find. I check the parks, playgrounds, the waterfront, skateparks and ball fields on sunny days like today. We had gorgeous weather today and I hit the road later in the afternoon right as kids were getting out of school. The time was right and the light was great. I had tried my luck at a few places in Burlington and felt solid with what I had but decided to pop in on the skate park down the street from me because these kids love being photographed and they give me a pretty good show, too. One of the kids skating there was shooting some photos as well so we swapped vantage points and checked out good angles and light together. He also filled me in on some of the lingo but by the time I had to write captions...I had forgotten all of it. Oh well. I liked this shot the best because of the lighting and how he's silhouetted. I like how his fingers are shooting out of the frame and I always love filling the frame with multiple layers so the fact that his buddy decided to hang back in the background and watch really made my day.
Enjoy it!
