polar express

Back in December I took a ride on the Polar Express! It's a tradition around here in Burlington to set up the Champlain Flyer train service to look like the Polar Express from the famous Christmas book. Hundreds of volunteers dress as elves and await the arrival of the train from the North Pole. When the children and their families arrive at the station they're greeted with cheers and hugs and are shuttled inside for hot cocoa and a fireside storytelling of the book. When the story wraps up Santa arrives and of course all of the children run screaming to hug him. It was quite a scene and very, very cute. I am really behind in my blog posts as the holidays seemed to consume every free moment and quite honestly, I didn't feel like sitting on the computer after logging long hours of photo editing and multimedia production at work. With our bellies bloated from brunch, we all decided to hit the local sledding spot to take a spin on some old, plastic toboggans (and even some inflatable tubes that popped but Todd still found their deflated carcasses useful for sledding) There really is no good way to explain this video except that my little nephew, Charlie, is one tough-@$$ kid.

delayed, belated xmas

After putting it off for so long, I've finally sat down and gone through all those Christmas photos for edit. I celebrated big time this year with four Christmas get-togethers - whew! - and I think it honestly took me until now to fully recover from all the roasts, pies, cakes, egg nog, wine and the really difficult part - the presents. Here's a few from my Jericho celebration at my Dad's - one down, three to go.



I don't think I could've said it better myself. Will has the ultimate look of candy and present-induced exhaustion as he lays upon the pile of wrapping paper and toys strewn about the living room. I feel ya buddy.



My new protege! Turns out Charlie is quite the little photographer and snapped a few incredible shots at the Christmas party. Wendy, Will and Jonathan enjoy his slideshow.
